A Warm Treasure Space for Community Seniors

In Qiubi Community, Dongjiao Street, Ningbo, there is a “treasure space” filled with laughter—the Happy House for Seniors. It’s not only a great place for the elderly to relax and have fun, but also an important base for protecting their physical and mental health and conveying community warmth.

On May 9th, a group of special guests arrived, and heartwarming and healing scenes unfolded here.

Enterprise Delegation Visits and Experiences Elderly Care Services

A delegation led by Mr. Chen, General Manager of ENN Gas, visited the Qiubi Community Senior Citizens’ Happy House for a tour, learning, and experiential activity. The guests toured the activity areas of the Happy House, carefully examined the various educational games and facilities, learned about the daily operation and activities of the Happy House, and personally experienced the happy times the elderly spend there.

During the experience, the guests highly praised the operation model and service concept of Qiubi Community and Happy House for Seniors, believing that it meets the needs of the elderly and allows them to gain happiness and health through fun interactions, setting a good example for community elderly care services.

Fun Puzzle Games Enrich Elderly Daily Life

As the guests arrived, the corridor of the Happy Home for Seniors was already filled with warmth.

Secretary Cao and Director Wei of the Community Party and Mass Service Center were waiting there early, greeting the elderly people who came to participate in the activities with warm smiles. A friendly “Uncle Ma, you’ve arrived!” instantly bridged the gap and made the elderly feel the warmth of family.

Uncle Ma smiled and approached, carefully taking out a “Dragon Tail” puzzle from his cloth bag. He said with a smile, “I took it home to practice last time, and I brought it back today.”

This educational toy, inspired by the Luban lock, requires logical thinking and spatial imagination to assemble. It’s one of the brain health training tools prepared by Happy Age House for seniors, improving hand dexterity and slowing brain aging, making it very popular among the elderly.

Uncle Liu, seeing this, joined in, and the two sat together, enthusiastically playing with the Tower of Hanoi. Sometimes they pondered deeply, sometimes they exchanged tips, completely immersed in the fun of the puzzle game.

As a classic logic puzzle, the Tower of Hanoi effectively trains the problem-solving abilities and concentration of the elderly, making it a “popular item” in their daily brain health training and competitions.

Regular Mechanism Ensures Sustained Elderly Activities

This lively and joyful atmosphere is no accident.

To enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the elderly in the community and protect their brain health, the Qiubi Community Party and Mass Service Center has long established a regular activity mechanism—every Monday, it organizes brain-training games and community competitions at the Happy Age House. As soon as the news is released, it always attracts many elderly people to participate actively. They enthusiastically sign up and participate, strengthening their bonds through interactive competitions and improving their physical fitness through fun games.

Mentor-Apprentice System Passes on Warmth and Happiness

A community activity instructor explained that to benefit more seniors and enhance their sense of participation and accomplishment, they are actively promoting a “mentor-apprentice system.” This encourages seniors who have mastered the skills of brain-training games to teach other seniors, fostering a mentor-apprentice relationship and mutual support.

This approach not only allows seniors to gain a strong sense of accomplishment from sharing their skills, further increasing their enthusiasm for participation, but also widely disseminates brain-training activities among the community’s seniors, spreading warmth and joy to every senior and ensuring the continued transmission of happiness and health.
